It's Week Two! This week we hear from road users in Cupar and Markinch.
CAA's popular Worst Roads campaign, which started on April 8, 2025, is now into its second week.
Saskatchewan road users including motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, and passengers continue to nominate and vote for roads they say are unsafe "WORST" roads. In fact, we are learning that Saskatchewan residents have a lot to say when it comes to the roads they travel on and the shape they are in.

Year after year potholes and crumbling pavement remain as the top issues in our campaign. Several factors can cause deterioration of our roads - everything from weather conditions, age of roads, heavy traffic, and lack of maintenance. In cold climates like Saskatchewan, the freeze-thaw cycle plays a significant role in creating potholes – a problem that occurs when temperatures regularly go above and below the freezing point. When rain or snow seeps through cracks and openings in the pavement, it freezes and expands, causing the pavement to heave upward. Then as temperatures rise, the ground underneath the pavement returns to its normal level, leaving a cavity or hole which breaks apart with continued use of vehicles driving over the fractured pavement.
So how do you draw attention to the roads you feel are unsafe? It’s easy and it only takes a few minutes…
To nominate and vote:
- Click caaworstroads.com.
- Select a road - municipal or provincial - and a specific segment or section.
- One vote per road (per road user) in a 24-hour period is acceptable.
Nominate and vote for roads that have potholes, poor road maintenance, poor road signs or road markings, unpaved roads, traffic congestion, no or poor cycling infrastructure, or poor transit infrastructure.
The CAA 2025 Top Ten Worst Roads will be announced on April 30, 2025. Once again, a grand prize of a $1,000 (one thousand dollar) Shell Gift Card, courtesy of CAA Saskatchewan, will be awarded to one lucky winner selected through a random draw from all eligible votes. The winner's name will be drawn on April 30, 2025. Click here for contest details.
CAA Worst Roads is an online engagement campaign aimed at drawing attention to our province’s worst, unsafe roads. The top ten worst roads for 2025 will be shared with key stakeholders, government, and business leaders in hopes of sparking conversation and action.
