When a traveller calls CAA Assistance, similar to today’s process, they will be asked questions related to the current medical situation to recommend the most appropriate medical service.
Virtual emergency medical assistance is offered to travellers for emergency medical assistance anywhere in the world, 24/7 including in the traveller’s home province.
Virtual emergency medical assistance is available 24/7, 365 days/year, in Canada. This new in-province benefit provides access up to 4 virtual visits with a licenced Canadian doctor at no extra charge.
Yes. If you choose to use video conferencing for your medical consultation, you will need internet connectivity. Note: If internet connectivity is not available at destination, travellers will be redirected to urgent care clinic or ER/ hospital services
The MD from either of these services, upon diagnosis, can redirect travellers to an urgent care clinic or ER/hospital services.
Multi-Trip Plan policy holders have the added benefit of up to 4 virtual visits with virtual emergency medical assistance benefit anywhere in their home province/territory. This benefit is available to anyone with travel medical insurance, while outside their home province.
This is an added benefit for Multi-Trip Plan policy holders at no extra charge.
Virtual emergency medical assistance is for emergency medical assistance for minor ailments (like rashes, migraines, allergic reactions) within Multi-Trip Plan policy holder’s home province/ territory. Note: Assistance is also available when travelling outside of your home province.
This service is limited to 4 virtual visits. If they want additional medical assistance, they may be redirected to their government provincial health care service, which may be reached by telephone.
